No Baggage New Year Poem 2023

This New Year
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer.

Don’t carry grudges into this new year
Move forward and have no fear
And as far as mistakes
Learn from them and do what it takes
To make the coming year nothing but great.
Each year gives us experience for us to gain
Learn from them and do not blame
Take each day as it comes
Do not worry as it helps no one.
You now have 365 days ahead
Remember the words of those who said:
“You are writing your own story
Make it a best seller and give God the glory”.

Soviet Union Guilty of War Crimes in 1939-1945

Soviet Union’s aggressive war against peace in 1939-1940. Verbally it was flipped to be defensive operations by Stalin. Bolsheviks were a bunch of lawless rebels that had no respect for decency and moral values. Joseph Stalin was the number one Bolshevik and a proud, hardened professional criminal with a seared conscience.

Western Allies were naïve in believing the words that came out of Stalin’s mouth; he would lie through his teeth if it advanced his position in manipulating the Western Allie leaders.

Stalin lied about the executed 22,000 Polish nations by the Soviet secret police in the forest of Katyn. He lied even after having had a request by the secret police chief requesting the execution of 22,000 Polish national prisoners. Stalin signed the request with the Soviet foreign minister and other Soviet leaders. The professional hardened criminal behavior of Soviet Union leaders is the template that the Russian leadership is following with the Russian president Vladimir Putin. The Russian president lies through his teeth without even thinking twice. He is a hardened professional criminal.

European leaders should wake up and start living in reality; Russian leadership is seriously corrupted and modeled after the same Spirit as the Soviet Union leadership. Insight into the hardened professional Joseph Stalin mentality is visible in the Molotov & Ribbentrop Pact’s details and the numerous invasions and annexations that soon followed.

Nazi Germany and the USSR Pact of Aggression

The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact was a non-aggression pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union that enabled those two powers to partition Poland between them. German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop signed the pact in Moscow on August 23, 1939, and Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov.

Its clauses provided a written guarantee of peace by each party towards the other and a commitment that declared that neither government would ally itself or aid an enemy of the other. While they would invade many East European countries.

In addition to the publicly-announced stipulations of non-aggression, the treaty included the Secret Protocol, which defined the borders of Soviet and German spheres of influence across Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland.

The secret protocol also recognized the interest of Lithuania in the Vilnius region, and Germany declared its complete disinterest in Bessarabia.

The rumor of the existence of the Secret Protocol was proved only when it was made public and used as evidence to convict the Nazi war criminals during the Nuremberg Trials.

The Allies let Stalin and the Soviets off the hook because Stalin had bluffed himself and the USSR as being innocent of war crimes or genocide. The Western leaders were naïve and took Stalin at his word.

Soon after the pact, Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. Soviet leader Joseph Stalin ordered the Soviet invasion of Poland on September 17, one day after a Soviet–Japanese ceasefire came into effect after the Battles of Khalkhin Gol.

After the invasions, the new border between the two countries was confirmed by the supplementary protocol of the German-Soviet Frontier Treaty.

After the failed Soviet invasion of Finland, Stalin threatened to continue the aggressive war against Finland unless Finland accepted peace on Stalin’s terms.

After several negotiations, Finland government leaders accepted Stalin’s extortion of materials and land grabs. 1940 Stalin extortion in Moscow is filed under the name of the Moscow Peace Treaty. Here is a copy of the Stalin terms for ending the aggressive war against Finland.

Following the extortion in March 1940, parts of the Karelia and Salla regions in Finland were annexed by the Soviet Union, and the borders on the maps were redrawn.

That was not the end of Stalin’s invasions and annexations. Soon followed the Soviet annexation of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and parts of Romania (Bessarabia, Northern Bukovina, and the Hertsa region).

Concern for ethnic Ukrainians and Belarusians had been used as pretexts for the Soviets’ invasion of Poland. Stalin’s invasion of Bukovina in 1940 violated the pact since it went beyond the Soviet sphere of influence that had been agreed with the Axis.

the Soviet Union and Finland consider it necessary to build, each upon its territory and insofar as possible in the year 1940, a railway which shall connect Kantalahti-Soviet (Kandalaksha) with Kemijärvi-Finland.

Soviet Moscow Demanded Finland to Build the Railway from Kemijärvi to Salla.

The new railway construction demand on Finland in 1940 was another extortion demand by Moscow.

There was an entire hidden world of agendas in the Soviet leaders as their demands unfolded. The new railway demand was located at a strategic location, useful for the fast mobilization of troops.

It was located far north Finland, half of it inside the Arctic region.

Useful for:

  • Transportation of Soviet troops to the Sweden border.
  • Transportation of Soviet tanks into Finland interior.
  • Transportation of supplies and munitions to Soviet troops in Finland.
  • The new Railway on the Finland side was to be built 86.8 kilometers long, heading East from the city of Kemijärvi to the Soviet border.
  • That would have allowed the Soviets to get access to the Finland interior railway grid and cut through Finland from East to West, at the narrowest section of Finland, between Russia and Sweden.

Article 7 of the 1940 Moscow peace treaty made people in Lapland nervous. They instantly knew that the Russian bear was up to no good; they could smell it.

With the new 86.8-kilometer-long Railway connecting the old town of Salla to Kemijärvi.

There was already a railway line from Kemijärvi to Rovaniemi, and from there towards West to Sweden.

The Soviets had already started building a railway from Kantalahti to the Finnish border in 1939, before the M & R Pact.

The responsibility of construction on the Soviet part of the Railway was the Main Board of the GULAG under the NKVD of the Soviet Interior Commissar.

They built the Soviet Railway using prisoners. In the Soviet railway construction, there were GULAG prisoners used:

  • May 1940 – 58,198 prisoners in the building project
  • August – 31,808,       November – 26,469
  • January 1941 – 31,618.

The construction project was terminated on January 30, 1941.

At the same time, the Soviet Union built a track from Rutsy to the Muurmann line through Alakurtti to the national border. The Soviet Union began construction of its 171 km long section on January 19, 1940, and completed on February 25, 1941, while Finland’s share was completed and merged into Alakurtti on May 15, 1941.   Finland commenced building the Railway as the Moscow extortion demanded; the work commenced in June 1940. At one time, the most workers on the Finland side of the new railway project were 3200 workers at various locations of the Railway.

The Soviet diplomats kept on the pressure to speed up the new railway building progress and to have it completed in 1940. There were many scenarios being considered behind government doors.

The intelligence was seeking out information behind the Soviet lines to find out what was Stalin up to next?

The previous November 1939, the Soviet failed invasion attempt was a shocker for all the ordinary peace-loving people of the Nordic countries. Everybody was on edge; once again, people lost all trust in the Soviet leadership.

The Soviet leadership proved themselves one more time that they were professional criminals. Agents of lawlessness, going about with no respect for the rule of law. Planning violence to the innocent law respecting people of the land.

Anomalies in the 2020 United States Election Vote Numbers

According to unofficial outlets Joe Biden got 80 million votes.

If the vote numbers are legitimate, then Biden got more votes than the Obama landslide victory in 2008. And Hillary Clinton votes in 2016.

2008 Obama 69 million votes.

2016 Clinton 65 million votes.

Media outlets have reported that Trump got 74 million votes, if true, then he got more than 10 million votes in 2020, than in 2016.

According to the current numbers Trump got the most votes in USA history for a sitting President.

26% votes from minority voters. That is one of the highest percentages for a Republican President candidate.

94 % of the primary votes.

18 million people turned out for the primary.

Previous record was Bill Clinton, at 9 million.

There are many vote number anomalies in the 2020 US election. They will be sorted out in the State and federal courts.

Nazi German-Soviet Pact Of Aggression

Nazi German-Soviet Pact Of Aggression

Quote. The Nemesis Book 2018

The Pact between Adolf Hitler Nazi Germany and Joseph Stalin USSR was an immoral conspiracy, with intent for aggressive war against peace. Starting with Poland and Finland 1939. Poland suffered extreme losses after being attacked from the West by Germany, and from the East by the Soviet Union. War prisoners of war were executed during 1939 to 1940 by the tens of thousands.

The Molotov & Ribbentrop Pact was a conspiracy hatched between Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler regimes, the effect of the M & R Pact caused enormous human loss and casualties. Also, large-scale material loss and damages. The pact caused severe war crimes and genocide by the Soviet leaders against the Polish nationals and their government. They did not want to be a target or to have anything to do with the two dictator’s political ambitions and power politics in East Europe. At the time the Soviet Union was led by Stalin, he was steeped in the conspiracy with Hitler, fully aware what was their share in the spoils of war. Both parties of the Pact expected to benefit themselves from it, by expanding their influence over East Europe territory, occupying the land, pillaging and taking control of the Baltic States and Finland.

THE BENEFITS FOR NAZI GERMANY AND SOVIET RUSSIA

  • Territory conquest and eliminate resistance.
  • Politically demolish the Independence of the Baltics
  • Dialectic Materialism. Roll out communism.

“Soviet Union Stalin leadership were equal partners with Nazi Germany in the Molotov Ribbentrop Pact. The effects of the implementation and the maneuvering of the M & R Pact 1939 to 1941 caused tremendous damage to the Baltic States, Finland, and East Europe. Joseph Stalin, and the Soviet Union leaders who participated in the Molotov & Ribbentrop Pact, on the Soviet side walked away in 1945 without any admission of guilt in their role in the war crimes. Stalin simply shrugged it off, as not real, he completely denied any existence of a secret protocol.

The Allied partners took it a face value, at a two-dimensional reality, did nothing more about it. They distanced themselves from the Spirit of the Natural Law. The war against Finland was started by the Soviet Stalin and his military Generals on the 30 November 1939, without any declaration of war. Winter had already started with a thick snow cover on the ground. The Soviet Union had a well thought out plan for the military takeover of Finland. Their plan included the entire 1100 km border between the Soviet Union and Finland.”

SOVIET FORCES PLANNED TO MOVE IN AND TAKE OVER

The Soviet military forces were organized as follows:

The 7th Army, comprising nine divisions, a tank corps, and three tank brigades, was located on the Karelian Isthmus. Its objective was the city of Vyborg. The force was later divided into the 7th and 13th Armies.

The 8th Army, comprising six divisions and a tank brigade, was located north of Lake Ladoga. Its mission was to execute a flanking maneuver around the northern shore of Lake Ladoga to strike at the rear of the Mannerheim Line.

The 9th Army was positioned to strike into Central Finland through the Kainuu region. It was composed of three divisions with one more on its way. Its mission was to thrust westward to cut Finland in half.

The 14th Army, comprising three divisions, was based in Arctic Port of Murmansk. Its objective was to capture the Arctic port of Petsamo, and the Nickel mine, and then advance south to the town of Rovaniemi.

On 30 November 1939, Soviet forces crossed over the Finland border with the support of 21 divisions, a total of 450,000 troops. That takes a lot of logistics to maintain for a fortnight. It was a deliberate military takeover attempt of Finland.

Map of the soviet invasion plan
1939 SOVIET INVASION PLAN.

SOVIET TAKE OVER PLAN IN 1939

The takeover of Finland plan was not only at the military level; there was preparation done at political, cultural, and psychological levels. Satan used a plethora of levers to manipulate the human living soul to his advantage, intellect, consciousness, imagination, will, memory and emotions.

Psychologically and politically the Soviets had prepared Soviet puppet State representatives for Finland government after the occupation. The de-facto Kuusinen’s government was a Soviet puppet set up as future Finland’s people’s government. They called it the Finnish National People’s Government. It was signed on the 1 December 1939.

Soviet Foreign Affairs Commissar Vyacheslav Molotov officially signed the agreement. Approved by the spirit of the Nemesis.

The Soviets mustered up vast resources for their push westwards towards Europe. Bolsheviks lawless energy, Socialist ideology and the Communist State Atheism megalomania for global domination. The goals of the war against peace became blatantly clear as soon as the invasion had begun in 1939. The goal was an occupation takeover, followed by a russification process. Subjugating people to Soviet Russian pseudo-socialism.

Spiritually it was the corrupting influence of the Nemesis, using temptations, to exploit others, and using political means and military power to move obstacles away from the communist leadership goals. The Nemesis tempted both Hitler and Stalin, into an agreement to exploit the territory and property of the East European States. (Molotov-Ribbentrop-Pact, 1939)

The Soviets set up a fake government for Finland future, led by Otto Ville Kuusinen, to his predecessor Terijo. The Soviets armies also brought along their army brass bands. To play at ceremonies.  Mr. Ville Kuusinen history goes back to 1918, to the time of the Expulsion of the Bolsheviks from Finland. They did not accept the Independence of Finland as a reality. They were obstinate to make Finland a communist country, with Russia in charge of Finland governance.

The de-facto Kuusinen’s Government was signed by the Soviet foreign minister and Joseph Stalin. And Foreign Minister, Kuusinen, moved from Finland to Soviet Russia and created a political career as the Soviet Union in 1922 in the communist party of a changed state. Mr. Ville Kuusinen had signed an agreement with the Soviet Union leaders to replace the democratically elected government in Finland, that was elected into parliament in 1939.

The earlier years of Joseph Stalin strengthened his resolve from 1894. He had no excuse for ignorance. He studied at a religious seminary environment, where there were 600 trainee priests and spiritual monks. By his own rebellious will, he had the thought, the idea, what he wanted to become, and he chose to love lawlessness. He continued to make the same choices and left the seminary. He could have chosen to humble himself, to obey the spirit of the scriptures that they were taught at the seminary. To humble himself is a choice, similarly to rebelling is a choice also.

SOVIET AGGRESSION 1939

The beginning, of the Trail of destruction. Early in the morning of August 24, 1939, the Soviet Union and Germany signed a ten-year non- aggression pact, called the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact. The pact contained a secret protocol by which the states of Northern and Eastern Europe divided into German and Soviet “spheres of influence….”

“In the north, Finland, Estonia, and Latvia assigned to the Soviet sphere. Poland partitioned in the event of its “political rearrangement”—the areas east of the Narev, Vistula and San Rivers going to the Soviet Union while Germany would occupy the west.”

“Lithuania, adjacent to East Prussia, would be in the German sphere of influence, although a second secret protocol agreed in September 1939 assigned the majority of Lithuanian territory to the Soviet Union. According to this secret protocol, Lithuania would regain its historical capital Vilnius, previously subjugated during the inter-war period by Poland.” (Wikipedia, Nazi German-Soviet Pact of Aggression, 1939)

Following the end of the Soviet invasion of Poland on 6 October, the Soviets pressured Finland and the Baltic states to conclude mutual assistance treaties.

The Soviets were rolling westward empowered by their nationalism and lawlessness; they were searching out cracks in the Baltic states, a way to get in and start their Russification process under the pretense of pseudo “Socialism.” The spiritual power push of the Nemesis always gives alibis of deception, to lead people into thinking something else, then the actual intent, perceived by the human mind. In so doing they obscure the actual activity of Satan, that is to steal, kill and destroy. Any excuse to doubt the neutrality of Estonia; they found one in the escape of an interned Polish submarine on 18 September 1939. It is a most obvious thing if anyone signs up for the Nazi German-Soviet Pact of Aggression that the neighbors will run and scream wolf! So, therefore Soviets did not need to wait long after 23 August 1939 before they were spotted one.

ESTONIA

“A week later on 24 September, the Estonian foreign minister was given an ultimatum in Moscow. The Soviets demanded the conclusion of a treaty of mutual assistance to establish military bases in Estonia. The Estonians had no choice but to accept naval, air and army bases on two Estonian islands and at the port of Paldiski. A similar agreement signed on 28 September 1939″.(Invasion, Occupation of the Baltic states, 1940)

LATVIA

“Latvia followed on 5 October 1939 and Lithuania shortly after that, on 10 October 1939. The agreements permitted the Soviet Union to establish military bases on the Baltic states’ territory for the duration of the European war and to station 25,000 Soviet soldiers in Estonia, 30,000 in Latvia and 20,000 in Lithuania from October 1939.”….(Invasion, Occupation of the Baltic states, 1940)

PACTS

“In September and October 1939, the Soviet government compelled the Baltic states to conclude mutual assistance pacts which gave it the right to establish Soviet military bases. In May 1940, the Soviets turned to the idea of direct military intervention but still intended to rule through puppet regimes. Their model was the “Finnish Democratic Republic,”….(Invasion, Occupation of the Baltic states, 1940)

LITHUANIAN

“On 15 June 1940, the Lithuanian government had no choice but to agree to the Soviet ultimatum and permit the entry of an unspecified number of Soviet troops. President Antanas Smetona proposed armed resistance to the Soviets, but the government refused, proposing their candidate to lead the regime. However, the Soviets refused this offer and sent Vladimir Dekanozov to take charge of affairs while the Red Army occupied the state.”….(Occupation of the Baltic states, 1940)

“On 16 June 1940, Latvia and Estonia also received ultimata. The Red Army occupied the two remaining Baltic states shortly after that. The Soviets dispatched Andrey Vyshinsky to oversee the takeover of Latvia and Andrei Zhdanov to oversee the takeover of Estonia. On 18 and 21 June 1940, new “popular front” governments were formed in each Baltic country, made up of Communists and fellow travelers.[57] Under Soviet surveillance, the new governments arranged rigged elections for new “people’s assemblies.” Voters presented with a single list, and no opposition movements were allowed to file and to get the required turnout to 99.6% votes were forged.”(Invasion, Occupation of the Baltic states, 1940)

Is Your New Year’s Resolution to Clean Your Home?

Is Your New Year’s Resolution to Clean Your Home?

Is your New Year’s resolution to clean your home? If so, you want to do more than just pick up, but do an extensive clean. While it will take more time, it will result in a truly clean house, not just a quick clean house. So, what should you do?

Clean your walls.

It is amazing how much dirt, grime, and dust a wall accumulates. To get started, take a broom or vacuum cleaner to all cobwebs. Then, start scrubbing the walls. Unless covered in grime, a quick scrubbing will do. An easy step is to use a Swiffer sweeper. Attach a cleaning strip and go to town. This makes it easy to get those hard to reach places.

Move your appliances and clean.

When doing so, it is important to target both large and small appliances. In your kitchen, get help and pull out your refrigerator. Clean underneath it. Don’t forget to clean the inside and outside too. Also, remember the small appliances. Shake all the crumbs from your toaster and clean the counter underneath. Also, get appliances in other rooms, such as computers, TVs, satellite receivers, and so forth.

Clean your medicine cabinet.

First, pull out all items and give your medicine cabinet a good scrub both inside and out. Before putting medicine and first aid supplies back, check expiration dates. Throw away anything that has expired. Also, take an inventory count. All homes should have first aid supplies, including bandages. Make a note of what you need to buy.

Clean your cupboards.

For the most part, food cupboards are clean, but it is easy for dust to accumulate or for food packages to spill. So, pull everything out. Scrub the inside and start putting food back in. When doing so, look at what you have. Toss any food with expired expiration dates. Move foods with close expiration dates to the front. Donate any unopened, salvageable foods that you do not want to a local food bank.

Clean your refrigerator and freezer.

As previously stated, you should clean underneath and outside of your refrigerator, but don’t forget the inside. Although hidden from the view of most guests, a clean home means a clean refrigerator. Don’t forget your freezer too. Even small freezers need a good clean, as small items occasionally get lost in the shuffle. Pull all items out of your freezer and refrigerator and scrub. Throw away anything that is old, expired, or has been open too long. Put all the foods you want to save back inside.

Sort through your linen closet.

Pull everything from the closet. Vacuum or sweep the floor and then wipe down all shelves. Before putting items back inside, examine them. If you can afford to buy new towels or sheets, throw away the ones that are old, tattered, or ripped. Repeat the same process with each of your closets. Always vacuum or sweep the floor, wipe down all shelves, and do not keep anything you do not need.

Clean your computer.

As suggested above, you should clean around and underneath your computer, but clean it too. This is a small, but important step because most people do not realize how dirty their computers are. If you eat or drink at yours, you may have a bigger mess. Wipe down all computer screens carefully. Use a disinfecting wipe to clean the keyboard. Speaking of keyboards, shake it upside down or purchase a small air compressor designed for keyboard cleaning.

As previously stated, you are encouraged to look at what you have in your home when cleaning. Why put an old jacket back in your closet if you haven’t worn it in five years? In most instances, it is easier to throw away items you no longer need but consider donating when possible.

In short, if your New Year’s resolution is a clean home, you have a lot of work ahead. Instead of just vacuuming, sweeping, and dusting, take the time to do it right. By implanting a few of the above-mentioned steps, you will not just have a home that looks clean, but a home that truly is clean.

Internet Safety Rules to Establish with Your Children

Internet Safety Rules to Establish with Your Children

Are you the parent of a child who has recently started using the internet or are you the parent of a child who will soon start? When a child reaches about junior high school, they rely on the internet to do many school research projects. However, as a parent, it is important to remember that research isn’t all that the internet is used for. Many children and teens use the internet as an easy way to communicate with their friends or even to make new friends.

The ability to use the internet to make new friends and communicate with current friends sounds pretty neat at first glance, but it is important to take a closer look. Did you know that sexual predators often use the internet to target unsuspecting children and teenagers? Anyone can hide behind a computer and create a new identity. That is why it is important that you, as a parent, set rules for your child when they use the internet.

Internet Safety Rules to Establish with Your Children
Mother with two daughters

Internet Safety Rules to Establish with Your Children Explained

For starters, let your child know that they cannot give out their personal information online. There is absolutely no reason why they should give anyone their address or phone number online. Make sure that your child knows that just because the person they are talking to online claims to be a 16 year old boy or girl, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are.

It is also important to prevent your child from posting personal pictures or videos of themselves online. Unfortunately, this is something that many children do. Visit MySpace.com, which is a popular social networking website. You will soon see that just about every member, even children and teenagers, post pictures of themselves online. This can be dangerous, especially when other information, like a city or town or school, is divulged. If your child wants to post pictures or videos online, be sure to at least review them yourself first.

Make sure your child knows that they are not allowed to meet, in person, with anyone who they meet online. This is important, as this is how many children and teenagers fall victim to internet predators and sexual predators. Yes, the person who they are talking to on the computer may be who they say they are, but are you willing to take that chance? If an in person meeting does take place and you know about it, attend with your child. Let multiple people know where you are going and who you are meeting with. Be sure to do so in a public place.

It is also important that you set rules for the use of internet chat rooms and social networking websites. For starters, if you don’t want your child to use these things, don’t let them. Monitor your child if use if they do. For example, make sure you are in the room if your child is using an internet chat room. As for social networking websites, make your child set their profile to private. You will also want to regularly check it yourself to make sure that personal information, like your home phone number or home address, isn’t posted.

One problem that many parents face is checking up on their children online. It is no secret that most children know their way around a computer nowadays. You cannot check the internet history of your computer, which tells you which websites have been visited, if your child clears it on a daily basis. That is why you should establish rules on this and other similar practices.

The above mentioned rules should help to prevent your child from running into problems online, but you honestly never know. Make sure that your child knows to come to you immediately if they receive threatening, harassing, or sexual messages online. Make sure they also know to show you the message or to save it for your viewing, as opposed to just deleting it from the screen. Protection may be available for you by way of your local police department.

Finally, make sure that your child knows that all of the rules you set concerning internet use apply to all computer use, not just on the computer at home.

Internet and Kids: How Young Is Too Young

Internet and Kids: How Young Is Too Young?

Are you a parent? If you are, you may be curious as to when children regularly start using the internet. In all honesty, you will find that it depends. There are some parents who start their children with using a computer and the internet right away and others wait until their children need to do so for school. So, how young is too young for your child to use the internet?

What many parents, especially first time parents, do not realize is that some elementary schools teach their children how to use a computer as young as first grade. Of course, they may not learn how to surf the internet, but they do often learn the basics. These basics may include learning how to type, how to turn on a computer, how to use a computer mouse, and so forth.

Internet and Kids: How Young Is Too Young Explained

In keeping with young age, there are many parents who allow their toddlers and preschoolers to play computer games. Although software for those games can be purchased online or in most media stores, some parents turn to the internet. The good news about this approach is that many trusted websites, like those for Nick Jr, PBS Kids, and Play House Disney do not have harmful advertisements on their websites that your child could accidentally click on.

Young elementary school children are also likely to use the internet and a computer in general to play computer games. Towards the fifth or sixth grade, children may start to use the internet to do research for school projects. This is when it is really important to start monitoring your child’s use of the internet. Even if your child doesn’t use online social networking websites, use internet chat rooms, or visit pornographic websites, it doesn’t mean that they can’t accidentally come across them. Some websites are not very careful with what advertisements they show.

Junior high school and high school students, honestly, need the most monitoring online. These are students who not only use the internet to research, but to communicate with their friends and to make new friends. Unfortunately, not all teenagers are educated on the dangers that lurk online, especially where internet chat rooms and social networking websites are concerned.

So, is your child ready to use a computer and the internet? As stated above, it is your decision to make. With that being said, be sure to use your best judgment and be sure to establish some firm ground rules. Children who are at least seven years of age should never be allowed to use a computer alone. Strict rules should be imposed for older children.

Speaking of internet safety rules, be sure to make your views on social networking websites and internet chat rooms clear. If you don’t want your child to use them, state so. If they are allowed, establish rules. A few rules to get you started involve making a social networking website profiles private, not communicating directly with strangers, not trading personal information online, and not posting personal pictures or videos online.
As a reminder, you have the ability to determine when and where you child can access the internet. Just be sure that if you do allow your child to use the internet that you establish ground rules. Even toddlers and preschoolers should be able to follow these rules, such as only playing games on the website you get them set on.

How to Set Parental Controls with Internet Explorer

How to Set Parental Controls with Internet Explorer

Are you the parent of a child or a teen who uses the internet? If you are, there is a good chance that you use Internet Explorer for your browser, as it comes standard on most computers. The good news is that if you are using Internet Explorer, which has the blue colored e icon, it is easy for you to set parental controls. These parental controls can block your child from viewing dangerous content online.

As nice as it is to hear that you can limit the websites that your child or teenager gains access to online, you may be curious as to how you can go about doing so. As it was previously stated, the process is relatively easy. Outlined below are a few steps to help get you started.

How to Set Parental Controls with Internet Explorer Explained.

How to Set Parental Controls with Internet Explorer

1 – Open a new Internet Explorer window. You can do this by clicking on that blue e icon that was mentioned above.

2 – Click on “Tools,” from the drop down menu bar at the top of the page.

3 – Click on “Internet Options,” and a new smaller window will appear.

4 – Click on the “Content,” tab, as this is where you are able to set the controls.

5 – Under the heading of “Content Advisor,” you will see an enable button, click on it and a new window will appear.

By following the above mentioned steps, you should get the point where you are able to enter in your preferences. You may first want to start with the ratings. Click on the “Ratings,” tab.

When using the ratings feature that is provided through Internet Explorer, you will see at least four main headings, which include language, sex, nudity, and violence. You are able to determine what can be viewed on your computer based on levels. For example, Level 1 for violence is fighting, Level 2 is killing, Level 3 is blood and gore, and so forth. Remember that you can readjust these ratings at any point in time.

If you use the internet safety rating features that are provided by Internet Explorer, it is important to know that some sites can innocently be blocked. For example, a site that simply mentions the words “violence,” or “kill,” may be blocked, even if they are not violent websites. For that reason, you may need to make some adjustments. This can easily be done by clicking on the “Approved Sites,” tab.

When you click on the “Approved Sites,” tab you are able to enter in the websites that you would like to have view-able. This feature is nice to have if your child or teenager is using a family computer, like one that you and your spouse may also use. It addition to listing approved sites, you can also list the websites that you want to never make view-able. This is ideal if you are prohibiting your child from using a social networking website, like MySpace.

Aside from adding the websites that you and other adults in your household view to the approved sites list, you can also use a password. You can create a password for your computer and the parental controls by click on the “General,” tab. Create a password that is easy for you and the rest of the adults in your household to remember, but one that is hard enough that your child or teen can’t figure out themselves. In fact, do not give your child the password. An adult in your home can use it if they ask to have a safe site unblocked.

As you can see, it is relatively easy to protect your child online with the use of internet safety tools when using Internet Explorer. The many options that you have are also nice. Since the above mentioned tools and features are free for you to use, why not at least give them a try? If you are not using Internet Explorer, but rather another browser, like FireFox, you should be able to take similar steps to block potentially harmful or dangerous content from your internet using child.

How to Discuss Internet Safety with Your Teen

How to Discuss Internet Safety with Your Teen

Are you the parent of a teenager who uses the internet? If you are, have you already had the internet safety talk with your teenager? If you haven’t, it is time for that talk to occur. As nice as it is to be able to use the internet for school research projects or to communicate with friends online, it is important to remember that the internet can also be a danger to children and teenagers.

As nice as it is to hear that you should talk to your teenager about internet safety, you may be curious as to how you can go about doing so. Bringing up the subject can be hard, as your teen may automatically become defensive. The good news is that you do have a number of different options. One of those options is to just go for it.

How to Discuss Internet Safety with Your Teen Explained

When you outright discuss internet safety with your teenager, make sure that you pick a good time to have the talk. Don’t start ranting right away about your teen’s internet use and the dangers after a disagreement or when tensions are already high. With teenagers, this can lead to other problems. It may cause your teenager to not listen to you just for the point of not listening or they may purposely defy you.

Another option that you have, when looking to discuss internet safety with your child, is to wait until your child gets off the computer. When they walk away, ask them if they know about being safe online and the dangers that the internet has. This is a great opener, when your child is already using the computer. It may make you sound less like an overprotective, overbearing parent, at least in the eyes of your teenager.

When discussing internet safety with your teenager, it is important to not assume that your child already knows. Even if your child stops you and tells you they already know how to be safe online, don’t stop. Be sure to restate your point and establish any internet rules you would like your child to follow. It is important to remember that many teenagers think they know everything, but many don’t. For example, your child may know that there are internet predators out there, but do they also know that pictures of them smoking or drinking underage could get them suspended from school or even arrested, no matter how “cool,” they look on a MySpace page?

Speaking of MySpace, it is important to know what you should talk to your child about. Since many teenagers use MySpace and other similar social networking websites, they should be discussed. Make sure your child knows that anyone can hide behind a computer, even a sexual predator. Also, let them know the dangers of posting personal information and pictures on their social networking profiles.

In addition to social networking websites, like MySpace, internet chat rooms should also be discussed. Internet chat rooms are different, but similar in nature to instant messaging programs, like AOL or MSN. Generally speaking, instant messaging programs are safer for teens to use, as they aren’t automatically paired up and thrown into a chat room with other internet users, who are essentially strangers. As with social networking websites, make sure that your child knows that they could, essentially, be talking to anyone. Tell them to get out of a chat room right away if the tone turns sexual in nature or if they receive a private message from someone who makes them feel uncomfortable.

You may also want to discuss personal blogs. Many websites, like Blogger.com and WordPress.com allow internet users to start free blogs. Many teens find this a nice and easy way to vent or allow their friends to stay up-to-date on their thoughts. Your teenager needs to know that anyone can view these blogs, so their information really isn’t private and personal, say as a handwritten journal.

As you can see, there are a number of different ways that you can go about discussing internet safety with your teenager. Remember to do so, however, before it is too late. Any child who uses the internet should be well aware of the dangers that lurk.
